Edu-Lympics:
Saturday the 9 August was another fun-filled sports morning for the pupils of
The Edu-Care Centre and their families and friends.
The children warmed up by dancing the Macarena and the Birdie-Clap Clap. Then
the Junior Class showed off their talents by racing, building block houses and
running a mini-relay wearing caps. Watching these confident little people, its
hard to remember that the oldest is three and the youngest is just two years-old
!
The Kindergarten Class really showed their skills – pushing soccer balls in a
“straight “ line to the finish, dressing up, running, and balancing “eggs “ on
their heads. They certainly enjoyed showing off their excellent gross motor
abilities !
Then it was time for the BIG KIDS ! Grade O pupils !
The sack race was quite a challenge, as the pupils were given sacks which they
had to lay out properly on the ground, before starting their hops. It was quite
obvious that lots of practice had been taking place at home, as co-ordination
was very good.
Synchronisation wasn’t too great in the three-legged race, as some children
thought the game was to squash their partner ! But, it was huge fun !!
The shapes relay race proved that – at last – the children DO recognise colours
and shapes !
My proudest moment was watching the children race down the field and up and over
the hurdles. I just hope that everyone watching realised the excellent
co-ordination and motor skills shown by these youngsters . This was truly a
wonderful example of talent and proficiency.
This is our third annual sports morning, and once again we received big support
from parents, old boys and girls, and friends in the community. It is so very
heart-warming for the teachers and I to receive such backing from the
afore-mentioned. Thank you !!
Our pupils had such fun watching their parents perform in the dads sack races,
and the moms skipping race. My only hope is that they realise parents are not
usually such BIG cheats – this was for pleasure ! The moms and dads piggy-back
races were very successful, I saw children actually screaming and bouncing in
encouragement as they wanted to win ! and of course, everyone got sweeties at
the end of the races.
Our children are taught that EVERYONE IS A WINNER at the Edu-Care Centre, and
when you fall down – well, you simply get up, dust yourself off and start all
over again !
The children were all Gold Medallists and sportsmen in the truest sense of the
word. The teachers and I are immensely proud of them all.
Once again my teachers proved what team spirit is all about, and I thank them
all for their commitment and love and caring. Thanks to parents for entrusting
their precious children to us – we are honoured by your trust .
