Ghana to camp in South Africa ahead of Swaziland game

Sports Section

Ghana will camp in South Africa ahead of its 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland next month in Manzini.

The Ghana Football Association has comprehensively planned the Black Stars preparation for all the qualifiers for the tournament to be held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The Black Stars will start camping in Johannesburg on 31 August for the game against the team known as Sihlangu.

“The Black Stars will camp in South Africa head of the game against Swaziland and we have planned from the first match to the last qualifier,” Ghana FA vice president Fred Pappoe said. Players will arrive in Johannesburg straight from their bases in Europe to ensure that they hit the ground running in the qualifiers.

Key Ghana players are expected to be used in the epic clash against Swaziland on 5 September at Somhlolo Stadium. With the support Ghana received from local South Africans during the World Cup, Johannesburg is expected to be fertile ground for acclimatization ahead of the clash with Swaziland who share borders with South Africa.
