SOCCER – NATIONAL team Sihlangu players left the country yesterday beaming with confidence ahead of their clash against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana at the Chartsworth Stadium in Durban, South Africa tomorrow, starting at 4pm.

Interviewed shortly before departure at the Matsapha International Airport yesterday, soldier of many wars Siza ‘King Pele’ Dlamini who plies his trade with South Africa’s Jomo Cosmos blatantly stated that if the South Africans approach this game in a complacent mood, they won’t know what has hit them at the end of 90 minutes.

He assured their preparations have gone well, declaring that the squad is mentally prepared to carry the day home for the Swazi nation. “A loss is definitely not in our minds in this encounter and we will do our best to make the Swazi nation happy and proud of us. We’re very prepared for this match and ready to match the South Africans pound for pound,” he promised. His Cosmos’ team-mate Felix Badenhorst expressed great hope that they will go all out to get a win from this match. He was echoed by his team-mate Mpendulo ‘Baiano’ Kunene who also warned the South Africans not to undermine them.

“The spirit is very high amongst us as players and the team is very much balanced. We have to create and score at least two goals past them while conceding none,” he said. Royal Leopards’ on-form striker Mzwandile ‘Zoo’ Mamba said he was hoping for the best in this game and promised to maintain his recent scoring form in the league. Mbabane Highlanders’ winger Xolani ‘Choco’ Sibandze, who would be hoping to make his first official appearance for the senior squad, mentioned that if he gets the chance to play, he is ready to grab it with both hands. He stated that just being part of the travelling squad is a motivation on its own as he would be learning a lot from the senior players especially those based in South Africa.
