Zidane’ sad to miss Bafana Bafana clash

SOCCER – MBABANE Swallows’ midfield maestro Lwazi ‘Zidane’ Maziya has revealed how it pains him not to be part of the Sihlangu squad to play against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana tomorrow after he was not released from his place of employment

The midfield-dynamo is employed at the Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (SPTC) in Mbabane and is still serving his mandatory probationary period with the company, something that has contributed to the decision not to be released for this national assignment.

‘Zidane’ was expected to be part of the travelling national squad to take on Bafana Bafana at the Chartsworth Stadium in Durban, South Africa tomorrow, but the squad’s coach Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba was forced to drop him at the last minute after it turned out that he would not released to join camp ahead of the trip.

In an interview yesterday, the player mentioned that he had to choose work from the national assignment as he could not be released since he is still serving his probation with SPTC. “I wanted to be part of the squad, especially since they will be playing against South Africa, a national side we have to beat at all costs. I would have loved to make a contribution to the team but as you know, employment is more important because it helps me put food on the table,” he said.

The former Mhlambanyatsi Rovers’ star, however, wished the travelling squad all the best of luck and hoped that they would effectively carry the country’s hopes during the encounter. “We have to win at all costs as we will be playing against our neighbours, whom we need to show what we are made of,” said ‘Zidane’.

Sihlangu left the Matsapha Airport for Durban yesterday after having gone for camp from Sunday.
